Hey what's up!
Today I want to share something that hit me while watching the news this morning.
Saw a story about HIV no longer being terminal.

Then AI replacing entire job categories.
Then new editing software making Hollywood obsolete.
Made me realize something crucial about email marketing.
The world changes every single day.
But most email sequences were written years ago.
Here's the psychology behind this.
It's called the "recency bias."
Our brains give more weight to recent information.
We assume what happened yesterday predicts tomorrow.
So when your emails reference outdated examples or old case studies, your audience subconsciously thinks you're behind.
Netflix updates its homepage daily.
TikTok serves fresh content every scroll.
But we send the same welcome sequence from 2019?
Here's what you should do today:
Open your top 3 email sequences.
Look for references to events, trends, or examples older than 6 months.
Replace at least one outdated reference with something that happened this week.
Test it out and see how it goes. (Of course... don't put some random new stuff in there, focus on relevance)
Your emails should feel like breaking news, not history lessons.
That's it for today.
See you again tomorrow,
Geb
